Forward Justice and other Co-Counsel in the case notified the Wake County Superior Court that the state of North Carolina is not meeting its obligations under the Court’s orders.
As of this date, at least ten people have died from COVID-19 while incarcerated in North Carolina state prisons, and over 1,500 others have been infected with the disease.
Large-scale outbreaks resulting in the spread of hundreds of cases had already swept through at least four North Carolina state prisons. A hearing in the matter was scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2020.
