We’ve won the biggest expansion of voting rights since the Civil Rights Act, and restored voting rights to over 55,000 North Carolinians.
In April of 2022, the NC Court of Appeals ruled and ordered that effective July 26th, 2022 the State Board of Elections (SBOE) must fully implement the trial court’s March 28th final judgment and order, and allow people with prior felony convictions, who are not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction, to register and vote.
The Unlock Our Vote Freedom Summer will be kicking off soon, and we’ll be partnering with ACLU of NC, Emancipate NC, the NC Second Chance Alliance, Advance NC, the NC Justice Center, the NC Community Bail Fund of Durham, and Justice Served to host community voter education and registration drives across the state to ensure that those directly impacted by this historic victory are able to register and vote during this critical time in our democracy.
